Big update! Less than one month!

Facebook says that we have 27 days until our wedding and we couldn’t be more excited! Julie had an incredible bridal shower at Zuni, and her bridesmaids did a phenomenal job planning, decorating, and feeding the family and friends in attendance. Thank you to everyone who came -- you helped make Sunday so special for Julie!

Our to-do list is actually quite shorter than we had anticipated! We have (basically) the final guest count, our rings, marriage license, and processional order. We’ve made our general music selections, picked our (overwhelmingly large) menu, and made final payment for our honeymoon! Lots of little things to do, but it really feels like things are coming together!

We’ll do our best to give you another update prior to the wedding (maybe two weeks in), but until then thank you so much for all the kind wishes and excitement!

So it certainly has been a while since our last post. Aside from booking our honeymoon, December and January were relatively slow on the planning front. February, however, has been a very different story! Here’s a list of what has been keeping us busy:

Ketuba hunting! We finally found one after a full day of NYC Judaica store shopping. See it here.
Julie’s hair trial(s) (more running around for Julie, but it will pay off!)
More flower stuff with United Floral of Great Neck
Selecting, purchasing, and assembling invitations (not to mention the calligraphy)
Shopping for, designing, and purchasing our wedding rings
Everything related to groomsmen tuxedos

The list goes on and we’re positive that we’ve left something out! Nevertheless, we’ll continue to keep you all posted.

After considerable deliberation (and the serious help of Renee Meyer at Unforgettable Honeymoons), we FINALLY booked our trip. We are leaving on May 26th, 2009 for Seoul, Korea. After a two-day layover, we will be flying direct to Nadi, Fiji. Thanks to flyer miles, we’re flying about 10 hours out of our way -- hey, at least its’ free premier class travel!

Because our flight gets into Nadi at 8AM and our resort is on Tavenui Island, we will have to take an Air Pacific flight from Nadi at 1PM that afternoon. We will spend the morning at the much acclaimed “First Landing in Paradise” before heading off to a 5-star Fijian resort for 9 days!

An a side-note, Julie has enrolled in a PADI Open Water diver course at a dive center on East 81st Street. We will be orchestrating her check-out dive in the Fiji -- what better place then the soft-corral capital of the world!

Our Save The Date magnets are sent! We will replace the above image with a digital rendering of the actual magnet once we are able to find it. All in all, we were very impressed with the job!

Flowers, Flowers, and more Flowers

After taking a little break from wedding planning, we decided to schedule an appointment with United Floral of Great Neck. Aside from rave reviews, they just happen to be the florist who decorates Fresh Meadow Country Club on a weekly basis! We spent an hour with Charley (he runs the family business) and were so impressed by his creativity and clear understanding of Julie’s taste that we decided United would be our florist. It’s too early to finalize some of the finer details, but Charley has enough information to build some sample pieces for Julie to review. We have plenty of time until May, 2009 but having this piece knocked out of the way certainly makes our lives easier!
